***New this year: Harrisburg families will be offered their own Religious Education Program for Preschool through grade 8. Fr.Cimpl made the decision to offer Family Faith Formation as the program for Religious Education because of its Parent Friendly way of educating the whole family in the faith, also because of numbers of youth people, and helpers indicating interest at this point and because of the financial feasibility of renting space for weekly classes. Holy Spirit has offered Family Faith Formation since 2006 and many have enjoyed the benefits of passing on the faith to their own children at home. More information is available in out online Parent Handbook. Family Formation will continue to be offered to Holy Spirit Families also.
Holy Spirit Religious Education does REQUIRE that ALL Parents volunteer in some capacity in out RE Program. Parent Involvement in out programs will allow our parents to actively participate in their child's education and helps keep costs down. WE CAN NOT DO THIS WITHOUT YOU! There are many options to choose from listed on the Parent/Guardian form. In order for your children to participate and for your registration to be processed in our RE programs, parents must sign up for a Parent Involvement Activity.
Parents of 7th & 8th grade students will be required to come to class with their student 3 – 4 times a year. Specific dates will be assigned. It is important to have a least 2 adults in each classroom. This will be the parent involvement activity for 7th & 8th grade parents.
PRESCHOOL CLASSES will be offered for 3’s & 4-5 year olds on Sundays, during the 9:00 AM & 11:00 AM MASS in the preschool rooms of Holy Spirit School.
HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTS (9-10) are expected to participate in “Life Teen” which will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Confirmation prep is intermingled with Life teen for 10th grade on Wednesday Nights.
11th & 12th grade will meet in small discipleship groups using the Y Disciple model. Group will decide when they will meet and customize a plan for their group.
We offer a program of Religious Education as an option for families with children in Preschool through 6th Grade called “Family Faith Formation.”We have changed the format of this program so it is a home school option for families who wish to pass on the faith to their own children at home or those families who find our schedule of RE classes inconvenient .More information about Family Formation is available in our online Parent Handbook.

We are requiring ALL parents to volunteer in some capacity in our RE programs . Parent involvement in our programs will allow our parents to actively participate in their child’s Religious Education, as well as keep our costs down. There are many options to choose from listed on the Parent/Guardian Involvement Form online.
Parents (K-5) may also be asked to come to class at least once during the year to observe the class and help.
To volunteer your time and talents as a Teacher or Catechist is a great way to grow in knowledge of our faith and… the blessings are many! With the help of the Diocesan Office of Evangelization and Discipleship, we offer special training for our Teachers of Religion in our Teacher In-service meetings held throughout the year. It is adult education aimed at helping our teachers to be well grounded in their faith, so they can better pass it on to our young people.
The other choices of involvement offer parents’ ways to participate that can fit into busy schedules. Please indicate your choice(s) on the Parent/Guardian Involvement Form. We ask that each family sign up for one activity, but you are more than welcome to sign up for more!
The PARENT HANDBOOK (also online) outlines procedures and other more information about Holy Spirit’s Religious Education Programs.
An Open House for ALL parents involved in our WEDNESDAY Religious Education Programs will be held on September 30 at the 3:00, 6:00, 7:00 and 7:15 PM class times, beginning in the Worship Area of Holy Spirit Church. The Open House will begin with an information meeting for all parents and students followed by introduction of our teachers and an open house in the classrooms. Parents will accompany their child/ren to the classrooms and meet the teachers. To accommodate families with children in multiple grades, we will have 3 sessions, each 15 minutes long so parents have an opportunity to see and visit each classroom and teacher.
PRESCHOOL & KINDERGARTEN parents will meet their child’s teacher as they come to the first class on October 5 and receive the information they need at that time.
